BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The Hilton Family of Hotels (NYSE:HLT) recently dominated the Florida Hotel & Motel Association's (FH&MA) annual hospitality awards, bringing home eight of 13 awards during the ceremony held on August 25, 2004 at the Orlando Royal Pacific Resort.
FH&MA chose the winners based on nominations submitted by hotel management teams citing examples of outstanding customer service, such as Louree Jefferson, banquet server at the Doubletree Guest Suites in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort, who impressed the attendees of a service skills conference at the hotel so much that they asked her to speak to the group because she exemplified what the course was imparting to its attendees. And Jerry Dann, bell person at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort, whose thoughtful gestures have included picking up a prescription from the pharmacy for a sick guest, then having room service deliver chicken soup with cilantro, just the way the guest liked it.
"These awards reflect the stellar quality of our team members, and their dedication to always going the extra step to make each guest's stay special," said Samir Shafei, senior vice president, Hilton/Doubletree operations, Southeast Region, Hilton Hotels Corporation. "We are especially proud that these recognitions were made possible by the team members of the great state of Florida, one of our most important markets and the third-largest tourism market in the country."
And the winners are...
Convention Services Employee of the Year - Large Property: Elizabeth Wissen, banquet server at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort; Convention Services Employee of the Year - Medium Property: Deborah Almodovar, banquet server at the Hilton Garden Inn, Daytona Beach Airport; Outstanding Lodging Employee: Maria Rose Thorstensen, banquet server at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort, Miami Beach; Bellman of the Year: Jerry Dann, bell person at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort, Miami Beach; Room Keeper of the Year: Rosa Abello, room keeper at the Hilton Miami Airport; Guest Service Employee of the Year: John Aleksiejuk, towers concierge at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort; Food and Beverage Employee of the Year: Louree Jefferson, banquet server at the Doubletree Guest Suites in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort; and the award for Engineer of the Year - Large Property went to William Semuta, specialty maintenance engineer Hilton in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort.
