LAS VEGAS -- LasVegasKids.com announced today that it has posted a "Haunted Hotels" never been published list on its Web site, www.LasVegasKids.com. The exclusive list, which was created especially for those planning a Halloween trip to Las Vegas by a Las Vegas insider, provides information about allegedly haunted and cursed "strip" hotels in and around Las Vegas.
"With the colorful and often shady past Las Vegas has, it's no surprise we're home to a number of haunted hot spots," said LasVegasKids.com President Edward Serrano. According to the list, Bugsy Siegel is said to haunt the Presidential Suite of The Flamingo, where he resided. In addition, sightings of him have been reported by the pool, in the wedding chapel and in The Flamingo's rose garden. According to Serrano, if you happen to encounter this ghostly gangster, "don't call him Bugsy. He prefers to be addressed as 'Mr. Siegel.'"
The "Haunted Hotels" list also includes the story of the former MGM hotel located on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard. The hotel burned to the ground on Nov. 21, 1980, in one of the most fatal hotel fires in United States history, with a total of 84 deaths. Bally's was later built at the site of this tragedy, and although nothing of the original MGM remains, the spirits of the people who died so tragically in 1980 are said to haunt Bally's to this day.
The "Haunted Hotels" list also describes the Luxor Hotel curse, the haunted tiki mask at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, and Elvis sightings at the Hilton. The list is described as "family-friendly," though any adult with children traveling to Las Vegas this fall can enjoy it.
LasVegasKids.com is a destination Web site that provides a "one-stop shop" for families traveling to Las Vegas with their children. Serrano, a former marketing director for a major downtown Las Vegas casino, developed the idea for LasVegasKids.com after discovering that there was no single online source for information on family travel to Las Vegas. Additional checklists on the Web site include "Las Vegas Kid-Friendly Hotels," "Top Vegas Pools," "Best Bets Buffets" and the popular "Top 25 Freebies & Cheapies."
