LONDON -- Pegasus Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:PEGS) today announced that its new PegsTour(TM) service is picking up steam, with Thistle Hotels agreeing to participate and tour operators Olympia Viaggi s.p.a. and TravelNewYork.com signing on as well. Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions is a global leader in providing technology and services to hotels and travel distributors. PegsTour is an innovative service designed to automate hotel bookings for wholesale and tour operators. Based in London, Thistle Hotels is one of the United Kingdom's leading four-star hotel companies, with 54 properties, including 22 in London. Founded in 1975, the Varese-based Olympia Viaggi is a tour operator sold through a network of 4,500 travel agents across Italy and offices in Paris, London and Vienna. TravelNewYork.com is an online travel concierge for New York hotels and attractions, billed as the "No. 1 travel and entertainment Web site in New York." PegsTour serves tour operators by automating key booking processes through an electronic interface that connects operators to multiple hotel central reservation systems. The service normalizes system functionality, booking data and transaction formats through one interface environment, thereby achieving connectivity between very different hotel and operator technologies. PegsTour offers real-time electronic delivery of allocation hotel reservations, as well as modifications and cancellations, to a hotel's central reservation system and property management system. Vanessa DiMonte, director of sales for TravelNewYork.com, said: "We are very much looking forward to the addition of PegsTour for TravelNewYork.com. We are excited at the new functionality that PegsTour will offer, in terms of streamlining the reservation method and eliminating the margin of error often encountered with manual processing. This dramatic improvement will also enable us to concentrate more on sales and customer care for our travelers." While these customers begin the implementation process to use the PegsTour service, Pegasus continues to urge all of its hotel chain customers, as well as the worldwide industry of large wholesale operators, to participate in this new service. In June, Pegasus announced that it had signed agreements with Hilton International, Kimpton Hotels, Flairview Travel and CoachQuote.com. "These companies are significant in the tour industry, processing thousands of bookings each year," said Bob Boles, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Pegasus. "We expect even more hotel chains and tour operators to sign on for this service and finally experience the automation and real-time management of hotel bookings." The introduction of PegsTour marks another industry first for Pegasus, beginning in 1989, when the company introduced the industry's first switch connecting hotels and travel agents via the global distribution systems. Then in 1991, Pegasus was first to connect hotels and travel agent commissions, and in 1995, Pegasus was the first to connect hotels and the Internet.
