ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of select, luxurious, independent, hotels has been invited to participate in the Peabody Conference Connection, a new and unique marketing alliance. It has been specially created to more effectively compete against the major chain brands, to share and refer group customers to each other, while proudly maintaining each property's individuality and name recognition.
The raison d'etre for the Peabody Conference Connection is to help luxury, independent hotels complete the sales cycle. "For example," said Anderson, "Our group customers have experienced Peabody Hotels for years from Orlando, Florida to Memphis, Tennessee, and now in Little Rock, Arkansas. Many times, however, we are at a disadvantage in that we cannot complete the sales cycle when locations other than Peabody destination cities are selected by meeting planners. This is when and where the major chain brands have the advantage. The Peabody Connection addresses this for members of its consortium.
"To the best of my knowledge, this has never been done before, and is the first hotel-to-hotel representation and referral system of its kind," said Barry Anderson, vice president of sales and marketing for Peabody Hotel Group. After months of research and feedback from independent hotels, Anderson recently launched the Peabody Conference Connection. "It's time for upper upscale, independent properties to form their own sales and marketing consortium to vigorously showcase and promote the all-encompassing, unique, personal, service excellence and value factors of independent hotels.
"We envision expanding our sales distribution beyond our own destination cities, reaching out to select properties that share the common interest of hosting groups as an integral part of their market mix. The Peabody Conference Connection has invited independent hotels from Alaska to West Virginia and on into Canada and Mexico.
"Peabody Hotels has earned its reputation over the years the old fashioned way. Our hotels provide uncompromising service in an atmosphere of architectural beauty, luxurious, comfortable accommodations fully equipped with high-speed internet connectivity, and outstanding recreational and dining options. We have a strong team of hotel sales professionals, and have already established an additional global sales office in Atlanta. Others are planned in the first half of 2005 for Dallas and New York.
